Mr. Stefan von Holtzbrinck, Chairman of Springer Nature visits FLTRP

On November 24th 2017, Mr. Stefan von Holtzbrinck, the CEO of Holtzbrinck Publishing Group and Chairman of Springer Nature, with Mr. Arnout Jacobs, President of the Greater China of Springer Nature visit FLTRP. President Emeritus of FLTRP Mr. Li Pengyi, Vice President of FLTRP Ms. Wang Fang, Deputy Editor-in-chief of FLTRP Ms. Zhang Siying and Director of the International Division of FLTRP Ms. Hou Hui attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the two parties reviewed the cooperation history of FLTRP and Springer Nature, especially the five milestone projects—“New Standard English” One Dragon English Course, Nature: the Living Record of Science (ten volumes), Chinese language coursebooks: Discover China, FLTRP-Springer China Academic Library (English version) and Key Concepts in Chinese Thought and Culture Series (English version). Both parties expressed the hope to broaden the field of cooperation on the basis of existing projects, share the new opportunities of publication and education in the new era, as well as embracing the challenges brought by new technology and media. During his visit, Mr. Holtzbrinck focused on visiting exhibition area of the results of cooperative projects between FLTRP and Springer Nature and the working area of Basic English Education Publishing. Ms. Zhang Lixin, Director of the Basic English Education Publishing, reported the recent development of the “New Standard English Course” to Mr. Holtzbrinck.

FLTRP has been cooperating with Macmillan Education for twenty years since 1998. The fields of cooperation between the two parties cover English teaching and learning, Chinese teaching and learning, science education and academic publishing, etc. In May 2015, Springer Science Business Media merged with Macmillan Education, Nature Research and Palgrave Macmillan under the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group with a new name as Springer Nature, which has already been the largest academic publisher in the world.
